Industrial Laundry, in practice

A controlled process, not a bigger washing machine

Industrial laundry is what happens when washing stops being a task and becomes a production line. At the ECOWASH plant in Riccione, every batch is weighed and sorted on the dirty side of the building, washed on a programme chosen for its fabric and soil level, dried and finished to match the fibre, then inspected, folded and wrapped on the clean side. The two sides never meet — which is the whole point.

That structure is what gives you repeatable results. A tunnel washer running a validated programme produces the same towel on a Tuesday in February and a Saturday in August, regardless of who loaded it. It is also what protects your textiles: the mechanical action and chemical dosing are calibrated to the fabric, so cotton keeps its hand and terry keeps its absorbency instead of being scoured flat.

What we process

Bed linen — sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, mattress and pillow protectors. Bathroom terry — towels of every size, bath mats, bathrobes and slippers. Table linen — tablecloths, napkins, runners and overlays, including the heavily stained kitchen linen most laundries would rather not see. Workwear and uniforms for kitchen, housekeeping and front-of-house teams. Plus the awkward items: curtains, cushion covers, throws, blankets and duvets.

Each category has its own wash formula. Table linen carrying wine, oil and sauce goes through a pre-treatment and a longer emulsifying stage. Healthcare textiles run a thermal disinfection phase. Terry is dried on a curve that keeps the pile open rather than baking it closed.

Collection and delivery on a fixed rhythm

Collection days are agreed before the first pick-up and then they do not move. Your team knows which morning the cage goes out and which morning it comes back; our driver knows the route. Standard turnaround is 24 to 48 hours, and for properties on the coast we build the summer schedule in advance rather than improvising in July.

Everything travels in sealed, labelled bags: soiled linen in one direction, wrapped clean batches in the other, never in the same compartment. Deliveries arrive counted, and the delivery note is the document you check against.

Quality control before anything leaves the plant

Batches are inspected under controlled light before wrapping. Items with stains that survived the wash go back for re-treatment rather than out to a guest room. Items that are worn, thinning or torn are pulled and reported to you, so replacements are a planned line in your budget instead of a complaint at reception.

Wash temperatures, dosing and cycle records are kept for every batch. If you are audited — by an HACCP consultant, a franchise inspector or a healthcare authority — that record is what they ask for.

What it costs

Commercial laundry is priced per kilogram of clean, dry textile. Hotel bed linen and terry usually falls between €1.15 and €1.45 per kilogram; restaurant table linen sits higher because of the soil level; healthcare textiles higher again because of the disinfection stage. Volume, frequency and distance move the figure inside those ranges.

The number that matters in your budget, though, is cost per occupied room or per cover. That is what we work out during the free on-site survey, and what the written quote is built around. Use the cost calculator for an indicative monthly range before you speak to anyone.

Who we do this for

Most of our volume comes from hotels and restaurants along the Adriatic coast, alongside nursing homes, clinics and healthcare facilities inland. If you would rather own the machines than send the work out, we also supply and install laundry equipment and service it.

Questions

About industrial laundry

How is industrial laundry priced?

Per kilogram of clean, dry textile, not per item. Hotel bed linen and terry runs roughly €1.15–1.45/kg in the Rimini and Riccione area; heavily soiled table linen and healthcare textiles sit higher. Volume, collection frequency, soil level and distance from the plant move the figure inside those ranges.

What belongs in your budget is cost per occupied room or per cover. We calculate that during the free survey and build the written quote around it.

What kinds of textiles do you process?

Bed linen, bathroom terry, bathrobes and slippers, table linen including heavily stained kitchen cloths, workwear and uniforms, plus the awkward items — curtains, cushion covers, blankets and duvets.

Each category runs its own wash formula. Table linen carrying wine and oil gets a pre-treatment and a longer emulsifying stage; terry is dried on a curve that keeps the pile open rather than baking it closed.

Is there a minimum volume?

No fixed monthly minimum. For small operations we quote a minimum per collection instead, which is almost always the cheaper structure — ask and we will show you both figures side by side.

What does change with volume is the rate: a full vehicle costs the same to run as a half-empty one, so larger and more frequent loads price better per kilogram.

What happens to worn or damaged items?

They are pulled at inspection rather than returned. You get a monthly list of what came out of circulation and why, so replacement becomes a planned budget line instead of a complaint at reception.

If we damage something in processing, we replace it. That is our cost, not yours.
